Oh November! The last month of fall before we officially say hello to the beginning of winter and Christmas time. Yes, I wait until AFTER Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas. Not only is this the time of year to start getting cozy and slowing down, but it’s a time to be very thankful indeed.
This year my parents are hosting a friendsgiving dinner. That means we get to spend the week cleaning house and decorating! Oh, I do love this time of year, the falling of the leaves, the crisp in the air and of course the warm drinks in festive mugs.

I plan to spend a little time each day to clean a section of the house, so it doesn’t feel too overwhelming. I’ll start on Monday in the dining area, Tuesday in the living room and so on. It will be very nice to see all the fall decor around the house and start lighting candles to add that extra touch.
Extra tables and chairs will start to go up the night before, table clothes and center pieces will be set up, so we won’t have to worry about that the day of. Any type of serving utensils, plates, and bowls will come down from storage, be cleaned and put in the kitchen, ready for serving.

Every year my mother usually assigns everyone a side dish, appetizer, plates, napkins, and\or drinks so the cost of goods doesn’t just fall on whoever hosts dinner. This will also give those that like to cook a time to shine. You get to try that recipe you saw on Pinterest or perhaps lean on traditions and pull out that tried and true recipe from grandma’s cookbook.
Our Thanksgiving dinner menu will have:
Turkey and ham
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Stuffing
Mac and cheese
Corn and green beans
White rice
Stuffed wontons with crab and cream cheese
Dinner rolls
Appetizers included:
Chips and dip
A fruit plate with a variety of cheeses
Dessert menu:
Pumpkin pie
Pecan pie
Pumpkin roll
Chocolate chip cookies
Praline snickerdoodle cookies

Everything tasted wonderful and we ended the night with a few games of bingo. I loved seeing all the children running around and getting together with family. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving (or a great November) and remember to think of all you have to be thankful for.
